i was invited to contribute to a david bowie compilation. david's style and mine, don't marry up very well, but i tried my best to do us both justice.

i'm captivated by your landslide (2015)

This song is not my own. It is one that inspired me deeply on a particularly difficult day in late july so i recorded a version of it.  it is originally written and recorded by sucioperro and is called landslide.

got friends (2014)

the jealous sound, more than any other act, speaks my language. so much so that it always felt too much of a homage to try cover one of their songs. and then one night at three am, i "got high" and recorded this on my phone.

lake norman (2007)

(originally released on the college fall "gravity" CD single)
the wonderful gentleman who released the debut college fall album for us in finland, played in a great little poppy pinky band called boomhauer, "me think ok" was on high rotation during our tour and jodie couldn't stop singing "lake norman" so when we got home we raced straight to the studio and recorded our little tribute.

​we released the college fall single on vinyl through rough trade, and our great friend aldo, challenged us with the idea of putting on a ten city cover as a b-side. it was one of the hardest covers we've ever tried, serious musicians, serious pop dynamics, incredibly difficult to do it justice.

one of the most enjoyable songs to perform live. one of gbv's finest efforts.
