GLENN MUSTO MUSIC BIOGRAPHY
Glenn Musto is an Australian indie folk and lo fi songwriter and recording artist. His solo work is softly sung, intimate and deeply rooted in the rhythms of life at the Sanctuary of Sentient Beings, where he lives and creates on Wadawurrung Country in regional Victoria. The songs emerge from a life lived closely with animals, land, Country and the natural world, drawing on the principles of Elemental Zen and a deep attention to the ordinary moments in which meaning, connection and belonging reveal themselves.
Recorded largely in a wooden homestead surrounded by bushland and rescued animals, the music is deliberately simple and unforced. Acoustic textures, gentle melodies and understated performances leave space for the songs to breathe, allowing the feeling and meaning within them to come forward. The Glenn Musto solo project is an ongoing exploration of how to live, love, create and belong with greater awareness, compassion and connection to place and beingness.

THE SONGS, THE SEEKING AND THE SURVIVING
At its heart, songwriting for me has always been an exploration of connection. Across more than three decades of writing, recording and performing, I keep returning to the same questions: How do we love? How do we lose? How do we remember? How do we find our place, and how do we live with greater care for the beings and places around us?
My songs often begin with something intimate: a relationship, a memory, a moment of uncertainty or a feeling that is difficult to name. But they rarely stay there. The personal becomes a doorway into something larger, opening into questions of identity, belonging, responsibility and the relationships that shape our lives.
I am drawn to the collision of unexpected words, emotions and ideas, allowing new connections to emerge. Ordinary moments can become profound. Familiar experiences can become slightly unfamiliar. A simple phrase can reveal something deeper about what it means to be human.

My songs are intentionally direct yet mysterious, personal yet universal, grounded in everyday experience while searching beneath its surface. Beneath the emotional honesty is an ongoing inquiry into how we live. I am interested not only in what we feel, but in how those feelings shape the way we move through the world, and our relationships with ourselves, each other, other animals and the places we inhabit. Over time, these questions have extended beyond songwriting into the way I live. My home at the Sanctuary of Sentient Beings on Wadawurrung Country has become a continuation of the questions within my music:
What does it mean to care?
What does it mean to belong?
What responsibilities come with sharing this place with other beings?
My songs explore how experience changes us, and how we might choose to live differently because of it.

We move home into the Ranges, now we have ages, to find the middle and let the edges fade away Unravel was the first clear statement of Glenn Musto as a solo artist and represented a process of stripping things back. Away from the energy and identity of a band environment, the record created space for vulnerability, reflection and a more instinctive approach to songwriting and recording. The album explores the tension between holding on and letting go: the moments where old versions of ourselves begin to fall away and something more honest starts to emerge. |
